
Title: Enhanced Recovery in Practice Seminar
Audience: Suitable for surgeons, anaesthetists, nurse specialists, ward nurses, nutritionists, physiotherapists, pain specialists and other members of an ERP team.
Learning Outcomes:
At the end of the course each delegate/ team should:
Understand the background of the development of enhanced recovery
Be able to describe the surgical and anaesthetic considerations for enhanced recovery after colorectal surgery
Have an increased awareness of the impact on patients (and their relatives) undergoing enhanced recovery
Understand the role of patients and carer in enhanced recovery
Be able to discuss pre and post operative care and role of the theatre team.
Understand the options available for pain control
Have a greater understanding of the nutritional aspects of enhanced recovery.
Understand the role of colorectal specialist nurse and stoma care practitioner in enhanced recovery
Be able to describe the role of the physiotherapist and stoma care practitioner
Formulate a plan to introduce, or update, an enhanced recovery programme in their own centre
